Limited Edition

"Leon and Maria " is created in the One of a Kind process.

All of our limited edition pieces are made of solid metals. None of these items are electroplated or coated in any way. They are made by Jim in our home in Hawaii using the lost wax casting method, a technique first developed in ancient Egypt.

Jim hand carves a model in hard wax. The model is covered with a plaster like material and once hard, is placed in our small kiln and heated to over 1200 degrees. The wax melts out and Jim fills the now hollow mold with molten silver or gold using centrifical force.

The casting is cleaned and polished and if it is an original piece, it then becomes a metal model. He makes a silicone rubber mold of it which can be filled with molten wax to make more wax models. The wax models can then be altered or used as is to cast duplicates of the original carving. Jim hand polishes these new pieces and may set cultured pearls or gemstones in them.

One of a Kind

The jewelry in this category is all hand constructed by Jim. He usually starts by drawing an idea on paper. The design process is fluid and continues through the building of the piece. Jim works directly with the metal, hammering, sawing, filing, heating and bending. As the piece evolves, creative opportunities emerge in balance, texture and form. The final result is a one-of-a-kind unique expression of the artist's hand and mind.

Gemstone Beaded

Nina uses mostly natural stones for her beaded necklaces, earrings and bracelets. She likes to work with shapes that are balanced but not symetrical. She constructs all of her pieces using either solid sterling silver or 14k gold filled findings.

Silver and Beaded Pendants

The marriage of our two jewelry types. Jim creates a pendant and Nina makes a beaded necklace to compliment it. These are unique one-of-a-kind creations.

Jim completes a wax model to be the basis of a lost wax process original silver model. The sea turtle in wax. The sea turtle after the wax has been melted and replaced with silver.
